Specialized Sword Heat Treatment Services
Professional Metallurgical Hardening & Tempering for Bladesmiths and Sword Makers Don’t risk hours of forging and grinding to unpredictable heat treatment. As a graduate metallurgist with over 50 years of heat treatment experience and two decades as a custom knifemaker, I provide a scientifically controlled, high-capacity heat treatment service designed specifically for complex, long blades
⚔️ Our Sword Capabilities & Specifications
I have adapted my commercial-grade setup specifically to meet the demanding requirements of sword makers:
- Extended Capacity: Fully equipped to process blades up to 1200mm overall length (with a maximum 900mm actual blade length).
- Guaranteed Distortion Control: Long blades are highly susceptible to warping during the quench. By combining advanced thermodynamic principles with our unique hybrid quenching system, we guarantee minimum distortion and warping, saving you hours of post-heat-treat correction.
- Atmosphere Control: I utilize specialized anti-scaling barriers to completely safeguard your steel against decarburization and scaling, leaving you with a clean blade that requires minimal clean-up grinding.
🧪 The Metallurgical Advantage
Unlike hobbyist setups, every batch is processed using digitally controlled hardening furnaces calibrated for precise soaking times and exact temperatures. Whether you are working with high-carbon mono-steels, modern stainless alloys, or complex laminated steels (San Mai / Damascus), the entire phase transformation is scientifically optimized to maximize edge retention, toughness, and grain refinement.
💰 Transparent Pricing
I believe professional heat treatment should be accessible to individual makers, hobbyists, and full-time bladesmiths alike.
- Minimum Charge: Just £18 per order
- No Hidden Fees: I am not VAT-registered, meaning no VAT is added to your invoice.
- Hardness Testing Included: Every batch undergoes a minimum 10% Rockwell hardness testing and a test certificate is provided with your return shipment. 100% Rockwell testing is available at extra cost.
